Happy Birthday to Rotary which was 120 years old on February 23rd!

 

 

It has been a busy time at our Club. Thank you first of all to our many volunteering Members who make our Club relevant and impactful!

 

Our Committees have been very busy and each meeting we plan to have a committee update for our Members.

 

With that, Director Ginny Chair of Environmental Services developed a Club fundraiser selling seed paks. The sale was finalized March 3rd and the order will be in with delivery expected mid March. Many Members embraced this initial program and we are grateful. We will have updates on delivery as we go along. Thank you Director Ginny.

 

 

The Food Hamper program is now complete with over 205 hampers delivered. It certainly is one of most utilized programs and be assured that the folks who received the hampers were very grateful for them. Our budget for that was approximately $20,000. Well done all.

 

The launch of another important yearly Rotary initiative happened recently with Member Regan chairing a meeting to introduce our newest  Easter Seals Ambassador Remi Dean and her parents in the kickoff of the Easter Seals Society which raises funds for disabled children on PEI. Good luck and safe travels across the Island to all involved in this terrific program.

 

 

The Club just approved the provincial grants for Easter Seals 2024 which totaled $72,000 with another $20,000 distributed to the 3 Clubs to support giving programs within each Club.

 

The Donations Assessment Committee headed up by Member Marilyn has opened up the 2025 applications for donations. Applications are on our website if you know of any non profit wishing to apply. Those monies come from the Bingo funds as the great majority of our programs do. Here is our website.

March's Rotary theme is Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. Clean water allows everyone to live more healthy lives. World wide projects such as those we fund through our Club International Grants often include water and sanitation projects. 

 

Strive has just had their first preliminary meetings at Colonel Grey High School. Involving scholarships and learning life skills for high school students we are always looking for volunteers for this program. Contact Member Pat Hughes or Director Richard MacEwen for more information.

 

The Board recently approved our Magical Project for 2025 which is an extension of Strive to Charlottetown Rural in the 26/27 year. We are excited to offer 10 more scholarships @$1500 each to enable students to realize their life goals. 

 

Finally, join us March 17th for our next meeting which has Mike Nicoll speaking about the Community Shed project and also to hear Mary Ellen Callaghan speak about the IBS's 200th anniversary and receive a $2000 cheque to honor past Rotary Members of Irish extraction and to help with their many projects for their 2025 celebration all over the Island.
