Meeting Minutes

Meeting Chair Ron Profit opened the meeting and asked all those in attendance to join in the Island Hymn and Rotary Grace.

Dale Turner, Sargent of Arms canvassed the group for happy dollars.

Secretary Kim Nickerson provided her report.

  • 34 members present, 3 scooters, 17 make ups.
  • Selina Suter, YE student was hosted by Kim Nickerson.
  • District Governor Stella Roy, Paul Roy and Anne Sherman were all guests of Rotary.
  • Craig Gibson won the 50/50 draw. There were 2 draws on the jackpot, Paul Crant from last week and Craig. The Queen was not drawn and the pot stands at $561.

President Rick Gallant provided members with his weekly report.

  • Rick put forth the following motion, “We the members of the Rotary Club of Charlottetown approve the payment of $13,000 for Camp Gencheff from the Rotary Club of Charlottetown Charitable Trust.” Daphne Dumont approved the motion, Larry Sider seconded. Edna Reid and Tom Deblois abstained due to conflict of interest.
  • Rick introduced our YE student Selina Suter from Switzerland. Selina spoke to the group briefly and presented Rick with a book about her hometown and her Rotary Club banner.
  • Larry Sider received a special honor of a Paul Harris +4. The award was presented by President Rick and DG Stella Roy. Congratulations Larry!
  • Donna McIver was also inducted into the club. Her sponsor is Peggy Coady-Compton. Welcome to the club Donna!

Ron introduced guest speaker DG Stella Roy.

  • DG Stella started her Rotary journey in 1994 when she joined the Bedford/Sackville Club in Nova Scotia. She has been the District Trainer and for the last 3 years a discussion leader for the Rotary Leadership Institute. 
  • DG Stella spoke about the unlimited worldwide connections to be found in Rotary and shared several personal experiences she has had with these such connections.

Co-chair Edna Reid thanked DG Stella for coming to our club to share her words.

Meeting Chair Ron closed the meeting by asking the group to sing O Canada.
